Weekend Getaway At Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA
This weekend was my daughter’s friend annual birthday weekend at KOA. This is the first year we have been able to spend the whole weekend with them.
We rented a one room cabin that has a double bed and three twin beds. Other than heat/AC and electricity that’s all there is. Perfect for camping. The bathrooms and showers are a short walk from the campsite and heck we’re sitting around a campfire the entire weekend so we all smell like smoke.
We got a great deal for our weekend. Buy one night and get one night for free! Not bad at all! We only live 20 minutes down the road so we packed up the car with bedding, pillows, and supplies and checked in after school Friday. We unpacked and the kids were off riding bikes pretty much as soon as we put the car in park. LOL
Harpers Ferry KOA is a great campground and we use it a lot in the summer for their pool, mini golf, and bounce pillow. I didn’t realize that park of the campground was actual Civil War lands, but then again it shouldn’t surprise me since pretty much all land in this area was used in some fashion during the Civil War.
The store at the Harpers Ferry KOA has everything you need for camping. They have RV supplies, tent supplies and even great Christmas presents for family and friends. Forgot a pan to cook your dinner over the campfire don’t worry they have it in stock.
If you didn’t bring your bikes don’t worry you can rent them here.
So next time you’re looking for a getaway think about visiting Harpers Ferry, WV and stay at the KOA. You can stay in a tent, bunk house, cabin, deluxe cabin, or RV. So many choices and range of prices.
