It’s almost time for the holiday season! For those of you crossing the rather large pond between the UK and Florida to visit Universal Orlando Resort, here are some of my top travel tips.

Time Difference
Orlando is currently five hours behind the UK, so you’ve essentially been given the gift of time on your flight. How about that?

Always change your watch (smartphone, pocket time piece etc) as soon as you land. Get on East Coast time and stick to it. Try and go to at least 10pm on your first night. It will pay off in the long run and keep up you looking fresh.

The Sun
You know that bright light we sometimes see in the sky over our little island? Yeah, that one. Well, you’re bound to see a lot more of it. It’s kinda hot and there’s a reason that Florida is called the Sunshine State. Enjoy it, but just enjoy it in moderation.

Break it up with one of the fun-soaked water rides in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, a shopping break in one of the many merchandise stores (complete with gifts galore and glorious air conditioning) or an indoor ride that will transport you to another world. And you absolutely need sun cream.

Charging
You can never have enough chargers for the copious amounts of electrical devices you’ll be carrying. Tablet, smartphone, camera, e-reader—times by a family of four—that’s going to light up the national grid.

Get to 100% while flying with many airlines now offering personal ports. And grab a charger that not only is a plug, but has dual USB ports so you can multi-task.

The App
You’re wide awake, covered in sun cream and fully charged. Now is the time to make the most of the user-friendly Universal Orlando mobile app. Get to know all of the wait times on attractions and shows, get directions to help you navigate and creative your own list of favourites to see—all with free (yes, free) Xfinity WiFi throughout both theme parks and Universal CityWalk.

Now all that’s left is to pack that Union Jack bunting and picture of the Queen. Have a great holiday!
