Introducing Christy our new guest blog writer!
I want to introduce Christy to everyone! She will be guest posting on here and comes to us with a TON of Disney knowledge! Below she wrote why she is qualified to blog for us about Disney. I think you will agree she is more than qualified! I’m very excited to add her to the Your Magical Vacation team! So please say hi and give her a big welcome!
My name is Christy, and I am a Disney Parks-aholic. I was indoctrinated at a young age. Luckily for me, my aunt and uncle with whom I have always been very close, have always lived about five minutes from the World. We visited them every year, and each time, we always had a WDW trip planned. When I was in college, I remember it like it was yesterday, I walked up to one of the buildings and taped to the door was a flyer advertising a recruiting information session for the WDW College Program. I had no idea this program existed! This was my chance, and add in the fact that I was getting a little disillusioned with school; this was perfect if it worked out… I interviewed the next day, and within a month I received my acceptance letter to the WDWCP as an attractions hostess. I worked for that semester at the Disney MGM Studios (Hollywood Studios) and it was an adventure of a lifetime. Living, working, and studying at the “Mouse” was all it was cracked up to be, and more. I still have worldwide friends from that time, which is over 15 years ago, and two of my roommates I am in touch with regularly and see as often as possible. I stayed on, as so many of us do, and lived with my relatives nearby and transferred to UCF to continue my studies. I then got wind of a program similar to the WDWCP, but this was at Disneyland Paris. After two interviews where I claimed my French was passable (never spoke a word before), I was on my way to France for a 6 month employment contract with Disneyland Paris. It was amazing, and I also made wonderful, lifelong friends who I still speak to on a daily basis. I was able to travel throughout Europe and work and live in an international environment that I truly enjoy. Nine years later, I was back at WDW, this time working at the Wilderness Lodge Resort in one of the most popular restaurants on Disney property: Whispering Canyon Café. I was able to work there as a part-time employee for 2 years and then as a seasonal employee for 2 years while living in Maryland. My 3-year-old son had his first trip at 4 months, and not to be outdone, my newborn son will be on the Disney Wonder at 5 months old. I am the personification of a Disney Parks freak!
