To start let me explain what Extra Magic Hours (EMH) are. These hours are for guests staying onsite at select Disney Resorts. Each day, 1 of the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks opens 1 hour early or remains open up to 2 hours after regular closing time. It used to be 3 but Disney has released a statement that in 2013 the parks will only stay open 2 hours late. Additionally, Disney Water Parks offer Extra Magic Hours during select times of year.
My family uses the Park Hopper® tickets so we use to do morning EMH then hop to the park with evening hours. We now only get up for Magic Kingdom so we can get the “kiddie” rides done before the park opens and the lines get long.
This year we noticed that the parks that were holding evening EMH were packed! We were at Hollywood Studios one day and it was so busy we canceled our dinner ADR and hopped to Epcot!
I believe that from now on my family will avoid the parks with EMH except Magic Kingdom for the morning. How do you plan your itinerary for park hours?
