Dining at Disney
Hi everyone! Thank you to Jennifer for inviting me to be a guest blogger on her fantastic site! One of my favorite things about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is the FOOD! Remembering back to when I was young and visiting the parks, I do not remember the food being great. Nowadays, Disney has to compete with the immense amount of great restaurants in the Orlando area to keep people eating in the parks and resorts.
Two great resources for all things Disney food are Allearsnet.com where they have updated menus for all park and resort restaurants, and The Disney Food Blog which features Disney food news, updates, and most importantly, tons of photos of the great food! Allearsnet.com is a wealth of information for anyone interested in trying to plan your Disney vacation food-wise. They have contributors from all over that post the most up to date menus and pricing, and it is all neatly organized without searching through tons of forum posts. The Disney Food Blog has all of the news and rumors of menu item changes, restaurant rehabs, and closures, plus they specialize in all of the happenings of the annual Epcot Food and Wine Festival.
A fantastic way to take advantage of all the culinary delights of Walt Disney World is to take part in the Disney Dining Plan (DDP). The DDP has multiple levels to fit your budget, and your eating lifestyle. It is a wonderful deal, and it is a great way to try all of those restaurants that you have always wanted to try but didn’t want to spend the extra time and money to do so!
A few of my food “must do’s” are: Ohana at the Polynesian, Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Kringla Bakeri in the Norwegian pavilion at Epcot. A great tip for those of you on a budget (time and money): Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian and the Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge offer very similar menus for less and takes a smaller chunk of time out of your day! One can never underestimate Disney food, and it is great to stay on top of the news and trends of the future of food at Walt Disney World.
Stay tuned for a detailed post about the Dining Plan from Jill!
